WebRTC Muting PC Sounds AND the Conversation

Hi team, just wondering what the official behaviour is for WebRTC with PC sounds such as email notifications and other audio.
Currently, our customers are reporting high instances of the conversation cutting out. When I was just speaking with them to troubleshoot, they said that I just cut out, and for me I heard an email notification loudly in my ear, but obviously the WebRTC just muted the audio so to not play the notifcation for the caller.
We have previously used a Broadsoft PC softphone and the PC sounds were not an issue, they were not passed through, but the conversation was not muted.
