Voicemail Prompts

When creating an extension we like to use a generic voicemail greeting, versus the Asterisk default of “The person at extension 100 is not available..”. However, should the user choose to record their own personal greeting, if the corresponding Busy Prompt or Unavailable Prompt are declared with a reference to a stored recording, their own personal recording will not save or get invoked. We have to go into the extension settings and change these values to ‘None’, then tell the user to go back and do it again. Obviously not an optimal customer experience.

So when a user does want to use their own custom greeting and goes through the on-phone voicemail settings (*97), update the VitalPBX extension settings and change the Busy and Unavailable Prompts to either ‘None’, or ideally, ‘Custom’, which would make more sense. ‘None’ should be just that - None, and reference the Asterisk default. ‘Custom’ would give everyone the proper reference to what the extension’s voicemail greeting is.
