Hoping someone her can help me with interconnecting 2 locations. I have 2 houses both with there own instances of VitalPBX Starter. Everything works fine on both sites however I would like to find a way for an extension in one house to call to another extension at house 2.
You need to create a TRUNK between your locations, and ideally if you dont want to have a specific prefix to dial the other PBX having extension ranges that are different as well.
Thanks for that direction. Are you aware of any online guides on how to do this as I cannot find anything specific on google.
Add a trunk (IAX2 is usually the simplest), and inbound/outbound routes either side.
If the extension numbers are the same range (eg 101,102,103) for both sides, then add a dial prefix (eg 2 → 2101) to contact the extension at the 2nd PBX and set the outbound rule to have the prefix (2) and 1XX as the pattern.
For the inbound route, set as a DID range and pattern 1XX.
