Can't register SPA303 phone on VPBX3.1

Trying to test out VPBX 3.1.
A Yealink T23G phone registers OK but my Cisco SPA303 test phone refuses to authenticate. Same SPA303 works fine on VPBX2. Tried an old SNOM300 and a Linksys PAP2T I had in the drawer and they have the same failure to authenticate

For the VPBX3 test machine I created a SIP extension 222, set the SPA303’s SIP port to 5062 and triple-checked the password is the same on both the PBX extn and the phone…

But these lines appear repeatedly in the log:
[2021-07-27 16:13:41] NOTICE[3604] res_pjsip/pjsip_distributor.c: Request ‘NOTIFY’ from ‘“TEST222” sip:222@192.168.8.73’ failed for ‘192.168.8.36:5062’ (callid: 896e2acc-7c9a31b4@192.168.8.36) - No matching endpoint found
[2021-07-27 16:13:41] NOTICE[3604] res_pjsip/pjsip_distributor.c: Request ‘NOTIFY’ from ‘“TEST222” sip:222@192.168.8.73’ failed for ‘192.168.8.36:5062’ (callid: 896e2acc-7c9a31b4@192.168.8.36) - Failed to authenticate

I cannot see why it won’t authenticate. And I don’t understand the message about “no matching endpoint found”

Hey @tonywhelan,

It seems to me that the phone is still sending the request to port 5060; that’s why you see “No matching endpoint foud.”

You should try creating the device as PJSIP instead of SIP.

Hello Miguel, thank you for this.
I tried PJSIP and had no luck with that either.
Then I noticed the very latest entries in the pbx log were dated 2018!
Checked the server’s CMOS battery and it was dead. Replaced the battery and I can now register PJSIP ok.

Now I can get on with testing the new version
