Cannot pick up a phone in a ring group

Hi, I have a ring group with 3 phones in it (201,202 & 203). I have created a pickup group giving the necessary permissions to all phone in the group to pick up each other.

The problem I have is that if an inbound call comes in, and 201 answers, then another call comes in and 202 and 203 ring. If 201 hangs up so he can pickup the new inbound call, the *98# doesn’t work against either 202 or 203 as I presume that is because the call is not direct at either of them specifically?

Is there any way for 201 (in the above scenario) to pick up the new call hitting the ring group?

Hi, I think the issue is that *98 (directed pickup) looks for a call ringing directly on a specific extension. When the call comes in through the ring group, Asterisk sees it as belonging to the ring group itself, not to 202 or 203 individually, so there’s nothing to “pick up” from 201 perspective.

Try *8 instead that’s group pickup, which grabs any ringing call within your pickup group without needing to target a specific extension.

That was my try. Hope it helped you.

Thanks for the suggestion, i’ll give it a try and let you know.

You have the codes completely wrong *98 is remote voicemail access so you will never pickup a call in the group with that feature code. The group pickup code is actually *08
