Call Queue Periodic Message

Hi all. I am looking for user feedback on the Periodic Announcement function in a Call Queue.
For Example/ We have it set to ring for 5 minutes total, with a periodic message every 60 seconds, however, the message does not play. Everything else about the CQ appears to function well.

Vital Support has then advised that you cannot set it like this, the periodic announcement will never play while ringing devices. So, the Member Ring time must be set to a lower value, like 30 seconds, and the Retry parameter to 5, for example

Although this would seem illogical and impractical resulting in users having multiple missed calls for just one call, and if they did answer the call, would still have missed calls show on their Yealink, I did set as they instructed and that did not work either. All other functions worked but still no message.

Is someone able to test their CQ and tell me if they can get a periodic message to play. I believe there are some serious faults and flaws in this function but I do not have another Vital instance to test.

No, Asterisk queues do not play periodic announcements while actively ringing agents!

As mentioned in the ticket, setting the way you requested it to be set still did not result in the file playing when it should.

To configure your Periodic Announcement correctly, you must consider the queue’s agent ringing time and retry interval.

For example, if the Members Ring Time is set to 30 seconds and the Retry Time is set to 5 seconds, the queue cycle is approximately 35 seconds.

In this case, we recommend configuring the Periodic Announcement Frequency to 35 seconds or higher, such as 35, 70, or 105 seconds.

If the announcement becomes due while the queue members are still ringing, Asterisk may delay it until the current ringing attempt finishes.

Also, if you want the periodic announcement to play when there is only one caller waiting in the queue, make sure Announce to First User is enabled.
